Introduction:
DOOM 3 contains the full original game, its expansion pack Resurrection of Evil, as well as a brand new never-before-seen set of seven levels, Lost Mission; complete with fully remastered graphics and more. This is the same as the 360 release in 2012 with the exception of no online multiplayer. In general, this is a solid list with a mix of challenging and simple achievements.
Step 1:
Much like many other amazing games of the past, enjoy it! There isn’t much sense in achievement hunting this gem of a game, but if you simply wish to get the Gamerscore and move on, skip ahead to Step 2. Otherwise, have a blast! Blast a few demons while you’re at it!
Step 2:
So now you’ve had your fun or you’ve decided the fun starts here. What you’re going to want to do is to go through each of the three parts of the whole package on at least 'Recruit' first in order to unlock 'Nightmare' for that part as well as to get a feel for the game if you have not already. While on your way through each run, try and grab as much of the miscellaneous stuff as you can to save yourself some time (no chapter select available to go back later). During this step is also when you’d want to go for Speed Run (30G)on 'Recruit' difficulty if you did not get it yet.
Step 3:
Now it’s time for 'Nightmare'. Gear up and get ready. Please refer to each 'Nightmare' achievement within the guide for tips and such for each part of the game. 'Nightmare' is stackable, so you will unlock any lower difficulty achievements as well upon completion.
Conclusion:
Now that you’ve finished the game and all is done and the achievements are completed, it could be said that it sure was one hell of a ride. DOOM 3 is such a great game of the past now with achievements, updated visuals, and more brings much satisfaction to manyold school gamers, including myself.

There are 44 achievements with a total of 1000 points
- Sticky Situation
15
Defeat the Vagary boss in DOOM 3
Story related and cannot be missed.
This boss is fairly simple to beat. The Vagary is a female spider like enemy that is actually a normal enemy later in the game, but this first encounter is considered a boss. Just keep dodging her telekinesis attacks and let her have it with whatever you have ammo for. The Chaingun works very well for this boss.
- Boomtastic
10
Blow up 50 barrels in the DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission campaigns
This is completely self-explanatory. Any time you see a red or yellow explosive barrel, just shoot it a couple times with your pistol (so you don’t use more precious ammo types) and let it blow; just make sure you are far enough away from it when it does.
This achievement should be cumulative across the game(s). Just make sure you blow up all the barrels you see and you shouldn't have a problem. It's possible to find an area with 3-4 barrels, save, shoot them all, load, and repeat the process until the achievement unlocks, but this will likely come with regular progression without sitting through the extra loading screens.
- Turncoat
10
Get 2 demons to fight each other in DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission
This is one gameplay mechanic of DOOM that I have always loved. Monster infighting!
The way that infighting works in DOOM 3 however is when a lower ranking demon hits a higher ranking one. So for instance, you will need to get an Imp to hit a Cacodemon, in which leads the Cacodemon to destroy the Imp. The Imp most likely will not fight back.
- That was Close!
30
Kill an enemy with 1 health remaining in DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission
The best way to do this would be to let a weaker enemy (such as a zombie or Z-Sec) get your health down until you reach 1 HP, then kill them before they can kill you. On 'Recruit', pistol Z-Secs only take 1 HP each shot at close range. You could even try hurting yourself with barrels or grenades to aid in the process.
- Ripped!
10
Use the chainsaw to kill 20 enemies in DOOM 3
Once you acquire the Chainsaw later in the game (at 'Communications'), simply let it rip and tear some enemies to shreds.
- Cookie Stealer
15
Defeat Guardian boss in DOOM 3
Story related and cannot be missed.
The Guardian is the boss you must defeat within the Hell levels to gain the Soul Cube weapon.
The absolute easiest way to kill him would be to enter the portal with the BFG equipped and let the cut-scene finish, then let off a fully charged BFG shot right at his blue energy sphere; DEAD. If he doesn’t die, continue the fight like described below.
However, if for whatever reason this doesn’t work for you, then this is the second best way: try to utilize the pillars and corners as cover and shoot down the “seekers” first. They look like flying squid things with flashlights. Once you kill these, aim for the huge energy type sphere above the boss itself and you should have no problem defeating it.

- You're Not My Boss!
15
Defeat Sabaoth boss in DOOM 3
Story related and cannot be missed
unlesshe commits suicide by blasting himself against one of the pillars with his own BFG.
This boss is Sergeant Kelly, but he has become mutated and possessed. A really easy and quick way to kill him is to make sure your Soul Cube is charged before entering the room for the fight and then right when the boss says the word “welcome,” launch the Soul Cube and then fire FIVE rockets and he should die in a few seconds.

- Big Boy
15
Defeat Cyberdemon boss in DOOM 3
Story related and cannot be missed.
This is the final boss of the main game; the infamous Cyberdemon. He is actually fairly easy to beat, even on 'Nightmare'. What you’re going to want to do is to stay as far away from him as possible and keep dodging his missiles, just like in classic DOOM. Use smaller enemies to charge the Soul Cube, and then launch it at him a total of FOUR times. Four hits from the Soul Cube will kill the Cyberdemon.
- DOOMed Recruit
10
Complete the DOOM 3 campaign on Recruit
Refer to DOOMed Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Gimme Time!
15
Defeat the Helltime Hunter in RoE
Story related and cannot be missed.
The Helltime Hunter is the first boss in the Resurrection of Evil campaign and must be defeated by grabbing the blue-ish green fireballs that are launched at you with the Grabber and tossing them back. Not too bad of a boss, but he can teleport and can be hard to anticipate. Five direct hits from the fireballs will kill this boss.

15
Get the BFG-9000 from Security Chief's office in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
At one point in the Delta Labs chain of levels, you will come to a section where you must use yellow boxes and a crane to reach a ventilation shaft on the wall above you to the right.
Get up there, then go through the shaft and drop down. Turn around and then look in front of you to the left. You will see an office room with the BFG-9000 inside. Input the code 931 on the door panel and there you have it.
- DOOMed Marine
30
Complete the DOOM 3 campaign on Marine
Refer to DOOMed Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Soulfood
15
Use the Soul Cube to defeat 20 enemies in DOOM 3
The Soul Cube will be obtained for the first time after you defeat the Guardian boss in Hell. This weapon is amazing because it has infinite uses as long as it’s charged and it’s a beast to kill things with. It will pretty much one hit kill everything in its path and when thrown it will attack the strongest enemy in its range first. Defeating 20 enemies with it should be no problem.
- Unarmed Badass
10
Kill 20 enemies with the fists/melee hands in DOOM 3
This achievement is very easily do-able at the very beginning of the game and even throughout it to the end. Any time you see a zombie or two walking about, just let ‘em have it with your fists. No sense wasting ammo right? Just be careful and make sure you step back so they don’t slap you back. If you run into trouble getting your fists back out once you have two or more weapons, simply press
.
- Gimme Power!
15
Defeat the Berserk Hunter in RoE
Story related and cannot be missed.
The Berserk Hunter is the second out of three Hunter bosses in Resurrection of Evil.
This boss is more aggressive than the previous boss and has two attacks. One is a leap like melee attack; the other is once again launching fireballs. When the battle starts, use the Bloodstone and continue to fire the Super Shotgun into his heart. It should be noted that he can only be harmed while his chest is open and his heart is exposed and glowing.
Thanks to WhiteshirtGames for the video:
- Speed Run
30
Complete the DOOM 3 campaign in 10 hours or less
*MISSABLE*
Finally! An amazing FPS game with a speed-run achievement! You’ll be surprised how easy this actually is, since the best speed-run in the world was done in less than two hours, which gives you eight whole hours of leeway.
Below is a speed-run video from egnost and the Speed Demons Archive on 'Nightmare' which should help you in getting a good time.
- Shocking!
15
Defeat the Invulnerability Hunter in RoE
Story related and cannot be missed.
Enter the Invulnerability Hunter, the final of the three Hunter bosses. This one is easily the hardest of the three, possibly even the hardest boss in all of DOOM 3.
What you’re going to want to do is right when the battle begins, jump away to the right or left and avoid his attacks. Keep moving during this fight to avoid as much damage as you can.
You will have noticed that a power core failed, resulting him to be vulnerable to attacks. While there is a static-like effect over his body is when he is vulnerable. Simply use the Bloodstone and let him have it while he can be hurt. When you see him beginning to power back up and the static effects get stronger, you will need to open the power core covers by pressing the control panels on them when they are green and then destroy them.
Repeat this process to take him down. Just watch out for his melee attack as it does massive damage.

- Lost Recruit
15
Complete the Lost Mission campaign on Recruit
Refer to Lost Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- All of Us
10
Find the id logo secret room in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
This secret room is found LITERALLY right before the final boss fight with the Cyberdemon.
Near the end of the game you will be wandering down a stone block cave pathway and every few feet you will find an alcove. The very last alcove (to the left of the boss trigger) will have one stone block with the id Software logo engraved on it. Simply press the
button or
on this stone and the achievement is yours.

- Evil Recruit
15
Complete the RoE campaign on Recruit
Refer to Evil Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Eat This!
15
Defeat the Maledict boss in RoE
Story related and cannot be missed.
This is the final boss of the Resurrection of Evil expansion. The best way to tackle this boss is to use the Bloodstone and then unload rockets into him while he is flying. I would suggest using the Grabber on the Forgotten Ones that fly out to you. Dodge his attacks and when he lands, unload BFG rounds into him and he should go down fairly easily.
Thanks to WhiteshirtGames for the video:
- Lost Marine
30
Complete the Lost Mission campaign on Marine
Refer to Lost Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Lost Collector
15
Collect every PDA in the Lost Mission campaign
*MISSABLE*
Just like all the other PDA collectable achievements, make sure you search each and every single place you can and make sure you kill friendlies (if any) as they may drop a PDA.
Please visitTHISpost for a spreadsheet of all collectablesfound in chronological order.
- Evil Marine
30
Complete the RoE campaign on Marine
Refer to Evil Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Play Catch
15
Kill 20 enemies with projectiles launched from the Grabber in RoE
The Grabber (also known as the IPL) is a weapon very similar to the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2. It can grab objects and toss them, and can even be used as a weapon in itself. The Grabber will be obtained right near the start of the game from a dying Marine. You will need to toss objects at 20 enemies and kill them with said tossed object.
On a related note, the Grabber is extremely useful for Forgotten Ones (fiery flying skulls) as it is an instant kill.
- Goody Finder
30
Open all storage lockers in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
For this achievement, you must locate and open all storage lockers in the main game of DOOM 3. Good thing about these is most of them you will encounter throughout the game without having to do much serious searching, which is pretty much just like the other collectable achievements.
NOTICE:This achievement appears to be glitched in a good way, unlocking earlier than expected. Some have reported it unlocking in Delta Labs 3/4 instead of later on.
It would be best to have upTHISthread with the storage locker codes while you are going through the game so that you do not have to search through your PDA to find the codes.
Please visitTHISpost for a spreadsheet of all collectablesfound in chronological order.
- DOOMed Veteran
30
Complete the DOOM 3 campaign on Veteran
Refer to DOOMed Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Double the Fun!
15
Kill 2 Imps with one shotgun blast in DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission
The best way to get this one done would be to find two Imps and then save your game. Then get their health down using a weaker gun such as the pistol. Once both are weakened, try and get them together at an angle that would allow your pellet spread to hit both. If you miss, simply load and try again. The Super Shotgun might be better for this as it has a wider pellet spread.
- Not a Scratch
30
Complete a level without taking any damage in DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission (except Mars City)
The best level to accomplish this feat would be the very first level of Resurrection of Evil. None of the Mars City levels will count (Underground, etc.). Just make sure you save constantly and if you take a hit, simply reload and continue.
- Lost Veteran
30
Complete the Lost Mission campaign on Veteran
Refer to Lost Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- Too Slow, Fool!
15
Kill 5 enemies at once while in Hell Time in RoE
You will first obtain Hell Time for the Artifact once you defeat the Helltime Hunter boss. Hell Time is this game’s version of slow motion. It is activated by using the Bloodstone (see Evil Nightmare (90G)). A good spot for this is in Erebus Labs Level 3, but can be done anywhere there are five enemies together really.
- Evil Collector
15
Collect every PDA in the RoE campaign
*MISSABLE*
Just like in DOOM 3, PDAs are scattered around the levels and you must locate all of them in this campaign. Search every room and crevice to make sure you have found them all.
Please visitTHISpost for a spreadsheet of all collectablesfound in chronological order.
- Evil Veteran
30
Complete the RoE campaign on Veteran
Refer to Evil Nightmare (90G) for more information.
- I Like to Watch
15
Find all video logs in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
Video logs can be collected and then played within your own PDA. Good thing about these is that there are not many. Video logs are a lot easier to find than you would think and you will pick up most of them by natural playing, however one requires you to watch a TV screen all the way through.
Please visitTHISpost for a spreadsheet of all collectablesfound in chronological order.
- Fists of Fury
15
Use the Artifact with Berserk ability to punch out 20 enemies in RoE
Once you defeat the Berserk Hunter boss, the Artifact will be granted the ability of Berserk. You will simply need to activate the Artifact enough times to obtain 20 melee kills while you are under the effects of it.
- DOOMed Collector
30
Collect every PDA in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
For this achievement, you must find and pick up all the PDAs scattered across the campaign in one playthrough. PDAs will mostly be lying on tables and on the floor and will have a red screen. Some however require you to kill a friendly so that they may drop it. Collectables in DOOM 3 are fairly easy to miss, so make sure that you search the entire level thoroughly before progressing to new areas.
Please visitTHISpost for a spreadsheet of all collectablesfound in chronological order.
- DOOMed Nightmare
90
Complete the DOOM 3 campaign on Nightmare
This achievement requires you to complete the entire DOOM 3 campaign on the 'Nightmare' difficulty setting.
In this mode, you will begin the game with the Soul Cube already in your weapon inventory in Mars City and you get to keep it throughout the game. You will also slowly lose 5 HP every few seconds until you reach 25 HP, in which it will stay until you gain more health.
The best technique to keep using throughout 'Nightmare' is to first of all, save constantly. Make sure you save before you turn every corner.
Another helpful hint is to use the Soul Cube on harder enemies since it is a one hit kill on everything except bosses and then use smaller, easier enemies to charge it back up again.
Ammo should not be a problem and make sure to use your weapons wisely. Use the Pistol or Fists for zombies, Shotgun or Machine Gun for Z-Secs, Chaingun and so on for larger enemies, etc. The Shotgun and Super Shotgun in this game is amazing at close range, and will usually one shot kill an Imp and similar enemies at point blank range. More often than not you can completely gib Zombies.
Attacks from certain enemies can be avoided, for instance the Imp’s fireball. Once it is thrown, simply crouch and you will duck right under it.
Focus your fire on the toughest enemies first. Perfect examples are the Arch-Vile later in the game. He won’t be a problem really, but for 'Nightmare' you will definitely want to smoke him with the Soul Cube as soon as possible. Prioritize your enemy kills.
- Lost Nightmare
90
Complete the Lost Mission campaign on Nightmare
This is the third and final 'Nightmare' achievement. You’re almost done. This campaign is farily short, consisting of only seven levels. It isn't much harder than the base game or Resurrection of Evil, and you are given the Soul Cube. Follow the basic tips for DOOMed Nightmare (90G)and this shouldn’t be a problem.
- Evil Nightmare
90
Complete the RoE campaign on Nightmare
This is the second achievement for 'Nightmare' difficulty, this time however you must complete the Resurrection of Evil campaign. Please refer to the achievement DOOMed Nightmare (90G)for more specific tips for 'Nightmare'. This campaign is probably harder than the base game’s campaign is.
This time around, you will obtain another artifact different from the Soul Cube, this one being the Bloodstone. The Bloodstone is also referred to as “the Artifact.” It is basically a floating heart that grants you unique abilities such as invulnerability and slow motion which you will unlock through natural storyline progression. This artifact is crucial to defeating the bosses in this campaign as well as completing 'Nightmare'.
Note that the Artifact does not restore health this time and it can only be restored by ways of health kits or med stations. The Artifact, unlike the Soul Cube, is recharged with human souls instead of Demon souls. One great thing however, on 'Nightmare' the Bloodstone will already be fully powered and usable (possess all three abilities) once you defeat the Helltime Hunter. Defeating bosses on 'Nightmare' just results in the Bloodstone to become fully recharged.
- Bot Buddy
10
Keep a Sentry Bot alive to its destination in DOOM 3, RoE, or Lost Mission (except Mars City)
This is very simple to do with the first combat engaged Sentry Bot that you find, which is located at EnPro Entrance. Just make a save before you proceed and if it dies, load and try again. It should be noted that they CAN be destroyed; they can just take a lot of damage. Try and protect it the same way it protects you. It’s a team effort you know.
- To Be or Not to Be
10
Kill the scientist trapped next to the Reactor Control Room in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
Eventually you will arrive in Alpha Labs section four of the Alpha Labs chain of levels. At one point in this level, you will go through a door and enter a room with a control panel overlooking some sort of chamber with orange walls. There will be a scientist trapped inside.
Before you do anything however, make a manual save before you choose either of the following options. Now you will want to choose “Activate Chamber” from the screen’s menu instead of “Open Chamber.”
Once you get the achievement,LOADthe file you just made. Proceed down to where he was because there are collectables that you will miss.

- You Laugh, It Works
10
Find the bloody handiwork of Betruger (in Delta 4 Hallway) in DOOM 3
*MISSABLE*
Right at the beginning of the Delta Labs 4 level, go through the first bloody hall, take a left, go through the next two doors, and then in the far back right corner you will see a bloody skeleton and beside him these exact words will be written in blood. Shine your flashlight on them and this one will be yours.
- Killing time
10
Score 25000 on Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 in DOOM 3 or RoE
*MISSABLE*
In “Mars City,” after the short cut-scene of Doctor Betruger and Swann talking, continue forward down the hallway in front of you and eventually on your right there will be a room with the word “kitchen” written on the wall. Go into this room and in the far back left corner, you will find the machine.
You will need to play this game (which is literally just punching a turkey over and over and watching it explode) for about five minutes, give or take, to reach the high score of 25000 points. You will get more points the quicker you hit the turkey.
You could always just sit in front of the machine and spam the
button or
while you watch TV or do something menial until you unlock this if it’s too boring for your liking or you’re impatient.
Note: There are only a few of these arcade machines in the game which is why this is missable.
- RAGE
15
Find the RAGE logo in the Lost Mission
*MISSABLE*
This one is a lot like the secret id Software room achievement. The location of the RAGE logo is behind a wall to the left of the final boss stage in the Lost Mission (it's when you walk into the area and you are on the second story).
